If you want to use the Small Group Forums, you must register for an account, and then be approved. Your group leader will have already requested a Forum to be set up by the Admins. Elders use this same procedure to register for an account.
The process to register for an account is simple–much simpler than reading through these steps!
- Look for the word “Register” at the bottom of the page, under “Meta”. Click on the word “Register”.
- Choose a user name. This cannot be changed later, but you will be able to choose whether or not it is public. It could be a nickname, first name, last name, initials, a pet’s name, etc. It should be something you won’t forget.
- Enter your email address. It must be a valid email address that you can access for completing the registration process. Otherwise nothing will be sent to this address that you have not requested, and the only people who see this email address are the Administrators.
- Click on the blue “Register” button.
- Check your email to get your password.
- Use the link in the email, or go to gscc.ca and “Log in” (at the bottom of the page under “Meta”.) If it says “Log out”, that means you are already logged in.
- The first time you log in, you will be prompted to change your password to something you can remember. It will make you enter it twice, to confirm it.
- When you log in, you should seeĀ “Howdy ____” (your nickname) at the very top right hand corner of the page. If you put your mouse over that, you will see a drop-down list: Click on “Edit my Profile”.
- Another way to find this page is to click on “Site Admin” under “Meta”, then put your mouse over “Users” in the left-hand column, and click on “Your Profile”.
- You may change/set up various things here. If you don’t want people to see your nickname, you will have to fill in your first and last name, then check off what you want to show, in the list beside “Display name publicly as”…
Once an Admin has approved your account, you will be able to perform various tasks depending on your “Role”. If the Administrators don’t recognize you, they may send you an email asking who you are.
